The TIA Knife is custom designed by This Is Africa’s host Andy Buchanan with a rugged elegance that screams AFRICA!
The strong wooden handle is made from the Mopane tree which is only found in low lying wildlife areas and shades the ground upon which Africa’s dangerous game stands. This tree has born witness to the deadly dance between man and beast for hundreds of years and has served as a firm favourite amongst hunters for its long burning hellishly hot coals.
The Blade is made out of world renowned German 440C stainless steel, that hasbeen forged creating a unique Out of Africa aesthetic. With an aggressive sabre grind, and its razor sharp edge, this blade is ready for any cutting application.
In honour of Andy’s late father, Don Buchanan, who was an avid hunter and renowned tracker for the Selouse Scouts and took part in numerous pseudo operations behind enemy lines in the Rhodesian Bush war we chose an ambidextrous SCOUT CARRY SHEATH in which the knife sits tightly on the hunters side for easy access, ready for any situation.
Caring for your blade
– Always use knives for their intended purpose.
– Avoid using knives to pry or dig at items.
– For Wooden Handles: Use standard wood polish
Rust Prevention
– Oil blade with any knife or gun oil.
– If in a leather sheath, DO NOT store in sheath for a lengthy period of time.
– Do not leave exposed to direct heat or sunlight for a lengthy period of time.
– Do not wash blades in the dishwasher
– After use, wash and dry before putting your knife back into its sheath. Apply oil before storing for a long period of time.
– Our recommendation is that fluid film be used to oil our blades.
